Air Liquide invested $35 million for the 22-hectare site. Air Liquide executives cited the U.S.'s dynamic market and top university and scientific talent available as some of the main rationale for the investment. The new facility, called the "Delaware Research and Technology Center" (DRTC), created 150 new jobs. The DRTC will devote itself to twelve areas of research from gas production to applications in electronics, healthcare and food processing, and in particular clean energy.
