BAE Systems, a U.S. subsidiary of a British-based global defense and aerospace company, recently announced that it will begin construction of new operations in Elgin, Oklahoma in 2008. The new 150,000 square-foot facility is scheduled to open in early 2009. BAE Systems is a provider of artillery systems to the U.S. military and the company's location in Elgin will establish Southwest Oklahoma as the core for the development of current and future artillery technology.
